Hailed by Jazzwise as "the most exciting British trombonist in decades”, Dennis Rollins is not only musician but also composer and educator. Now he pools his multi-talents to bring you the marvellous production, Griots t' Garage, his personal tribute to over 500 years of black music.
Let your soul go back in time as Rollins takes you through a historical musical journey inspired by the African Diaspora as far back as 16th century West Africa: inhumane slavery giving rise to soulful field-work songs leading to blues and jazz; joyous moments through samba, soul and reggae, to the funky, urban hip-hop and garage grooves of today.
The music is perfectly complemented by the artistry of Vijay artist Nick Hillel of Yeast Multimedia whose mixing of imagery with live performance intensifies the emotional impact of this powerful story of tragedy and transcendence.
