Songwriters’ Circle: Deeper Conversation with Yuna

11 Mar 2012, Sun, 3 – 4pm, $15 Esplanade Rehearsal Studio

Yuna is a Malaysian singer-songwriter known for her sincere music and her strong resolve to remain true to her identity and roots as she seeks to build an international audience for her music. Describing her music as “a cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay”, her self-titled EP, which included the hit single Deeper Conversation was a huge hit in Malaysia. Making her Myspace debut in 2006, Yuna’s meteoric rise to fame eventually landed her a deal with Fader Label in New York City. She was nominated in the Best New Band category in the MTV Iggy 2011 and will release her self-titled debut album in spring 2012, featuring the Pharrell Williams-produced first single Live Your Life.

Find out more about Yuna’s songwriting process, her journey as a musician, and the challenges she faces in an open Q&A session, accompanied by intimate acoustic performances of some of her songs.

Yuna will also be performing as part of a line-up of regional and international musicians in imagine: a soundtrack to peace, a special Mosaic Music Festival concert.
