Jazz123 - Rani Sings for Kids BY RANI SINGAM, TONY MAKAROME, TAMAGOH
AND ANDREW LIM
Singapore
11 Mar (Sun)
Recital Studio
3pm
(60mins, no intermission)
As easy as ABC is Jazz123,
a special concert introducing young children to jazz. Approaching well-loved
children’s songs
such as the Sesame Street theme song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow and
Bibidibobidiboo with a jazz treatment, Rani shows that jazz is
not just for the grown-ups – children can fall in love with it
too!
Rani Singam’s career began a meteoric rise when discovered by local
jazz maestro, Jeremy Monteiro. Mistaking Rani for a young Sarah Vaughan
when he first heard her demo CD, Jeremy instantly offered Rani a musical
platform. Dubbed “the next big thing in jazz vocals in Asia” for
her powerhouse vocals and clear, lyrical rendition, Rani has launched
her debut album With A Song In My Heart and performed at many jazz clubs
and festivals.
Accompanying her is jazz guitarist Andrew Lim, drummer TamaGoh
and bassist Tony Makarome. Andrew is a sought-after sessionist
in the jazz and recording scene in Boston and Singapore. Tony is
an Assistant Professor at
the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory (National University of Singapore).
Recommended for children aged 5-11 years.
